$0 to $1,000) and carries a low and a high pricing multiplier. When an estimate is built, the system looks at the total cost of the work, finds the range that band falls into, and uses its multipliers to help calculate the customer-facing price. This is how a small job and a large job can be priced on different terms without anyone doing the math by hand.
You manage multiplier ranges in Settings → Price book → Multiplier ranges.
Multiplier ranges live in the Price Book, which is part of your workspace’s admin settings. You’ll need administrator access to view and change them. If you open Settings and don’t see the Price book area, your role doesn’t include that access — an administrator on your team can help.
How a multiplier range works
Each range has five pieces:- Name — a label you’ll recognize in the list, usually describing the cost band (for example,
$0 – $1,000). - Minimum cost — the bottom of the cost band. A job’s cost has to reach this amount to fall into the range.
- Maximum cost — the top of the cost band. Leave it blank to mean “no maximum,” which is how you cap your highest band so very large jobs always have a range to land in.
- Lowest multiplier — the low end of the pricing multiplier for jobs in this band.
- Highest multiplier — the high end of the pricing multiplier for jobs in this band.
View your multiplier ranges
1
Open the Price Book
Go to Settings, then choose Price book.
2
Open the Multiplier ranges tab
Select Multiplier ranges from the Price Book tabs. You’ll see a table of every range with its Name, Min cost, Max cost, Lowest multiplier, and Highest multiplier.
Create a multiplier range
1
Start a new range
On the Multiplier ranges tab, click Create New. The Create Multiplier Range window opens.
2
Name the range
In Name, enter something you’ll recognize at a glance, such as
$1,000 – $5,000.3
Set the cost band
Enter the Minimum cost for this band. Then enter the Maximum cost, or leave it blank to mean no maximum (use this for your top band). The maximum can’t be lower than the minimum.
4
Set the multipliers
Enter the Lowest multiplier and the Highest multiplier for this band. The highest can’t be lower than the lowest. Multipliers can be any value from 0 up to the allowed maximum.
5
Save it
Click Create. The new range appears in the table and is ready to use in pricing.
A new range can’t overlap a band you’ve already set up where ranges are in use together. If the cost band you entered collides with an existing one, you’ll see a message and the range won’t save. Adjust the minimum or maximum so the bands sit side by side instead of overlapping.
Edit a multiplier range
1
Open the range
In the table, find the range and click the pencil icon on its row. On a smaller screen, open the row’s menu and choose Edit.
2
Make your changes
Update the Name, the cost band, or the multipliers in the Edit Multiplier Range window. The same rules apply: the maximum can’t be below the minimum, the highest multiplier can’t be below the lowest, and the band can’t overlap another range.
3
Save
Click Save Changes.
Delete a multiplier range
1
Choose the range to remove
In the table, click the trash icon on the range’s row (or open the row menu and choose Delete on a smaller screen).
2
Confirm
A confirmation window appears. Deleting is permanent, so make sure you have the right range before you continue, then click Delete.
Removing a range can leave a gap in your cost bands. Anywhere that range was relied on will need updating, so review your remaining ranges afterward and make sure every cost band you care about is still covered — especially that your top band still has a blank maximum.
Tips for a healthy set of ranges
- No gaps. Make sure each cost band ends right where the next begins, so every possible job cost falls into exactly one range.
- No overlaps. Two ranges shouldn’t both claim the same cost. The system blocks overlaps, but it’s worth eyeballing the list after changes.
- Leave the top open. Give your highest band a blank Maximum cost so the largest jobs always have somewhere to land.
- Name for the band. A name like
$5,000 – $10,000makes the table easy to scan and easy to keep in order.
