Every invoice can be opened as a polished PDF — the same version your customer sees. From the PDF preview you can check how the invoice looks before it goes out, print a copy, or download it to keep on file or attach somewhere else.
The PDF preview is read-only. It shows you exactly what the invoice will look like. To change amounts, dates, or line items, edit the invoice itself while it’s still a draft.

Open the PDF preview

1

Open the invoice

Go to Invoices from the main navigation and click the invoice you want. This opens the invoice detail page.
2

Open the actions menu

In the top-right corner of the invoice, click the More options button — the three-dot icon next to Send Invoice.
3

Choose View PDF

Select View PDF. The View Invoice window opens and renders the invoice as a PDF. It takes a moment to build the first time.
View PDF is always available, no matter the invoice’s status — draft, open, paid, or void. It’s the quickest way to double-check how an invoice reads before you send it.
Inside the View Invoice window, click Print in the top-right. Your browser’s print dialog opens with the invoice ready to go, so you can send it to a printer or save it as a PDF that way too.

Download a copy

Click Download in the top-right of the View Invoice window. The invoice saves to your device as a PDF named after the invoice number (for example, Invoice-1042.pdf). While it’s being prepared the button reads Downloading…, then the file lands in your usual downloads folder.
A downloaded PDF is a snapshot of the invoice as it looks right now. If you later change a draft invoice, download a fresh copy to keep your records up to date.

Choose what the customer sees

The PDF reflects two Client View Settings on the invoice: Unit Price and Total Price. These switches control whether per-item pricing shows up on the customer-facing invoice.
  • Unit Price — show or hide the price of each individual item.
  • Total Price — show or hide the per-line totals.
Turn either switch off when you’d rather present a single bottom-line amount instead of an itemized price list. You can adjust these on a draft invoice before sending; the PDF preview, the printout, and the download all reflect whatever you’ve chosen.
The amount due, taxes, payments, and credits always appear on the PDF. The Client View Settings only affect whether per-item pricing is shown.
