# Ai bi

> Open the AI BI dashboard to see live charts and reports about your business — who has access, how to turn it on, and what to do when it's empty.

**AI BI** is your built-in dashboard for business insights. It pulls your day-to-day data — estimates, sales, jobs, invoices, and more — into a set of live charts and reports, so you can see how the business is doing at a glance instead of pulling numbers by hand.

<Tip>
  AI BI is separate from Meni's **Dashboard** in the Main section of the sidebar. The Dashboard is where you pin the charts and reports you ask Meni to build, alongside what Meni flags for your attention. See [Meni Dashboard](/guides/meni/dashboard).
</Tip>

It's a place to *look*, not a form to fill out. There's nothing to configure on the page itself: you open it, read the charts, and move on. The setup that makes it work happens behind the scenes, and your team can ask to have it switched on.

<Note>
  AI BI is an admin and management feature. It lives in the **Admin** section of the main menu, and only certain roles can open it (see [Who can see AI BI](#who-can-see-ai-bi) below).
</Note>

## Open the dashboard

<Steps>
  <Step title="Find it in the menu">
    In the main navigation, open the **Admin** section and look for **AI BI** (it has a bar-chart icon).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open AI BI">
    Click **AI BI**. The dashboard loads right inside the app, filling the screen with your charts and reports.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read and explore">
    Browse the charts to see your latest numbers. Everything you see is scoped to your own workspace, so you're only ever looking at your company's data.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Don't see **AI BI** in the menu? It's either not switched on for your workspace yet, or your role doesn't include access. Both are covered below.
</Tip>

## Who can see AI BI

AI BI is limited to admin and management roles. As a rule of thumb, if you manage the workspace, run operations, or oversee sales, you'll have it. Front-line crew and individual sales reps won't see it in their menu.

If you believe you should have access and don't, ask whoever manages your workspace to check your role.

<Note>
  Even with the right role, AI BI only appears once the feature has been turned on for your workspace. If your role qualifies but the menu item is missing, the feature itself hasn't been enabled yet — see the next section.
</Note>

## Turn AI BI on for your workspace

AI BI is an optional feature that's switched on per workspace. It isn't something you toggle from an ordinary settings page — it's enabled for your account as part of getting set up, and there's a one-time connection behind the scenes that links your data to the dashboard.

To get it enabled:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Ask to have it switched on">
    Reach out to whoever manages your account and ask to enable **AI BI**. They'll switch on the feature and complete the one-time connection so your data flows into the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign back in if needed">
    Once it's on, refresh the app or sign out and back in. The **AI BI** item should now appear under **Admin** for everyone whose role includes access.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open it and confirm">
    Click **AI BI**. The first time you open it, your account is matched to your workspace's dashboards automatically — no extra steps on your end.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## When the dashboard looks empty

The first time someone in your workspace opens AI BI, their account is connected to your company's reports automatically. Once in a while that match can lag a moment behind, especially right after a new person is added.

If you open AI BI and the charts look blank or show no rows:

* **Refresh the page.** A reload usually finishes the connection and your charts appear.
* **Wait a minute and try again.** If you were just added to the workspace, give it a short moment, then reopen AI BI.
* **Still empty?** Ask whoever manages your account to confirm AI BI is fully set up for your workspace.

<Note>
  A brief reporting outage won't lock you out of the page. You can still open AI BI and view your most recent charts while everything reconnects.
</Note>

## Good to know

* **It's view-only.** AI BI shows you charts and reports — there's nothing to save or submit on the page.
* **It's always your data.** What you see is limited to your own workspace, so you never see another company's numbers.
* **Access follows your role.** If your role changes, your access to AI BI changes with it the next time you sign in.
