# Export shifts

> Download a CSV of shift records — badge ID, pay date, time in, and time out — for the shifts you select, so you can hand them off for payroll or your own records.

When it's time to run payroll or keep a record of hours worked, you can download your shifts as a CSV file. You pick exactly which shifts to include — filter and select the ones you want, then export. The file lists each shift's **Badge Id**, **Pay Date**, **Time In**, and **Time Out**, so it drops cleanly into a payroll system or spreadsheet.

<Note>
  Where you find this depends on what you can see. If you only manage your own time, the page is called **My Shifts** and the export covers your shifts. If you oversee a team's hours, the page is called **Job Shifts** and you can export shifts across the people you manage.
</Note>

## Open the shifts page

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to the shifts page">
    Open **My Shifts** (or **Job Shifts** if you manage a team) from the main navigation. The page lists past, current, and upcoming shifts in a table.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a tab">
    Use the **Today**, **All**, and **Completed** tabs at the top to set which shifts you're looking at. **Completed** is the usual starting point for payroll, since it shows approved, finished shifts.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Narrow down to the shifts you want

Before you export, trim the list to just the shifts you need. Open the filters and set any that apply:

* **Shift Date** — pick a date range (for example, a single pay period).
* **Employee** — limit to one person's shifts. (Managers only.)
* **Client Name** — limit to shifts tied to a specific client.
* **Shift Name** — match shifts by name.
* **Status** — choose any of **Upcoming**, **In Progress**, **Pending Approval**, or **Approved**.
* **Pay Structure** — choose **Salary** or **Hourly**.

You can also use the search box to find shifts by client, job, or person's name.

<Tip>
  For payroll, set the **Shift Date** to the pay period and the **Status** to **Approved** so you only export hours that have been signed off. If shifts still need a manager's sign-off, see [Approve shifts](/guides/schedule/approve-shifts).
</Tip>

## Select shifts and export

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the shifts">
    Check the box next to each shift you want, or use **Select all** to grab every shift that matches your current filters — not just the ones on the visible page. The count next to the checkbox shows how many you've picked, and **Clear selection** starts you over.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Export CSV">
    Once at least one shift is selected, an **Export CSV** button appears in the top-right corner with the selected count in parentheses, for example **Export CSV (24)**. Click it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review the export details">
    The **Download shifts as CSV file** window opens. It confirms the **Exported fields** (Badge Id, Pay Date, Time In, Time Out), how many **Shifts Selected** you're about to download, and the **Date Range** they cover. Check that the count and dates look right.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download the file">
    Click **Export CSV** in the window. The file downloads, ready to open in a spreadsheet or hand off to payroll. (Click **Cancel** instead if you need to adjust your selection first.)
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  The export includes only the shifts you selected. If a shift is missing from the file, go back, clear your filters or widen the date range, re-select, and export again.
</Note>

## Tips for a clean export

* **Double-check the count.** The number on the **Export CSV** button and in the download window should match how many shifts you expect for the period.
* **Use Select all for whole periods.** Filter to the pay period first, then **Select all** to capture every matching shift in one go, even across multiple pages.
* **Export approved shifts for payroll.** Filtering to the **Approved** status keeps unreviewed or in-progress time out of your payroll file.
