# Turn a Lead into a Client

> Convert a qualified lead into a client and project — so the work can move from your pipeline into delivery, scheduling, and estimates.

When a lead is real and ready to move forward, it becomes a **client** with a **project** — the home for the actual work, scheduling, and estimates. The good news: you don't fill out a separate conversion form. Converting happens naturally when you **publish a site visit** for the lead.

## How conversion happens

Once a lead is qualified and you book and **publish** a site visit (a lead activity), the system creates a client and a project from that lead behind the scenes. The lead's contact and address details carry over, and the **Project Name** you set while scheduling becomes the project's name.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Make sure the lead is ready">
    The lead needs a first and last name, an address, a phone or email, and a branch. See [Qualify a lead](/guides/leads/qualify-a-lead) if anything's missing.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Schedule the site visit">
    From the lead, click **Schedule Lead Activity** and fill in the details. See [Schedule a site visit](/guides/leads/schedule-a-site-visit).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish the activity">
    Click **Publish Activity** and confirm the notifications. Publishing is what creates the client and project.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  **Save Draft** does *not* convert the lead — it just holds the visit as a draft. Use **Publish Activity** when you're ready to make it real.
</Note>

## Jump to the new project

Right after you publish, you can go straight to the new project:

* The scheduling panel shows a **Project quick jump** with an **Open project** button that takes you into the client's project summary.
* You can also reopen the published activity later and use the same quick jump.

## What you'll see on the lead afterward

Once a lead has been converted, opening it shows an info banner: **This lead has been converted into a client**, with a **View Project Summary** link to hop over to the project. This is your sign that the lead has graduated out of the pipeline and into delivery.

<Tip>
  If the project lives in a different branch than the one you're currently viewing, opening it may switch your active branch so you land in the right place.
</Tip>

## From here, it's a project

Once the client and project exist, the work continues there — scheduling the crew, building estimates, and tracking the job through to completion.
