# Record a Ride-Along

> Record your in-person sales conversation and let AI analyze it for coaching insights afterward.

The **AI Ride Along** records your in-person sales conversation so you can focus on the customer instead of taking notes. When you're done, AI analyzes the conversation and gives you coaching insights to help you sharpen your next pitch.

<Note>
  You'll be asked for **microphone permission** the first time you record. The recording keeps running even if your screen dims, and there's a maximum length — long conversations stop on their own when they reach the limit.
</Note>

## Record the conversation

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start recording">
    On the **AI Ride Along** screen, tap the large **microphone** button. Allow microphone access if your device asks. The status changes to **Recording…** and a timer starts.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Watch the indicator">
    A glowing ring pulses around the button in time with the sound it's picking up — a quick way to confirm it's hearing you. The timer shows how long you've been recording.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pause if you need to">
    Tap **Pause** (or the button itself) to take a break — for paperwork, a phone call, or a private moment. Tap **Resume** to pick back up. The timer holds while you're paused.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Stop when you're finished">
    Tap **Stop Recording**. The recording uploads and the status moves through **Uploading…** and **Starting analysis…**
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let AI take over">
    Once it shows **Complete**, the recording is in and AI analysis is underway. You can start another recording, or head **Back to Estimate**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Review your ride-alongs

Your recordings are listed on the **Ride-Alongs** page (**My Ride-Alongs** if you only see your own). At the top, a **Table / Insights** switch changes how you look at them:

* **Table** — the list of recordings. Click one to open its details.
* **Insights** — an AI-written read of your ride-alongs: a headline takeaway, a few supporting points, a recommended next action, and a chart. Use **New insight** to regenerate it from a fresh angle. Managers see an insight across the branch's recordings; everyone else sees one about their own.

### Read the table

Each row is one recording, with these columns:

* **Salesperson** — who recorded it.
* **Lead**, **Client**, and **Project** — what the recording is linked to. **Client** is hidden until you turn it on.
* **Duration** — how long the recording runs.
* **Talk Ratio** — a bar showing how much of the conversation each of the top two speakers did, with their percentages.
* **Key Insight** — the top coaching insight, with a badge for how serious it is.
* **Status** — **Recording**, **Paused**, **Processing**, **Completed**, or **Failed**.
* **Date** — how long ago it was recorded.

A dash means there's nothing to show — for example, the recording isn't linked to a lead, or analysis hasn't finished yet. On a phone, each recording shows as a card instead.

### Search, filter, and sort

* **Search** — Use **Search by client, lead, project, or summary…** to find a recording.
* **Filters** — Narrow by a **Date** range. Managers can also filter by **Salesperson**.
* **Sort** — Click the sort button (the up-and-down arrows) to open **Sort by**, then pick **Date created** or **Last updated**. Pick the same option again to flip the direction, or click **Reset to Default** to go back to the newest recordings first.

### Customize the columns

Click **Customize View** (the sliders icon) to show or hide columns, drag them into a different order, or click **Reset to Default**. See [Customize the columns](/guides/leads/browse-filter-map#customize-the-columns) for the full walkthrough. Your sort and column choices are remembered on that browser and device.

## If something goes wrong

If a recording fails — most often because microphone access was denied — you'll see a short message explaining what happened.

* If you denied microphone access, allow it in your browser or device settings, then try again.
* Use **Try Again** to start a fresh recording, or **Cancel** to step away.

<Tip>
  For the cleanest analysis, keep the device near the conversation and minimize background noise. If you get interrupted, **Pause** rather than stop — that keeps everything in one recording.
