# View an Estimate's History

> Understand what's tracked on an estimate over its life — what changed, when, and who changed it.

Every estimate keeps a running record of the meaningful changes made to it over time. As you and your teammates update an estimate — changing its status, adjusting details, and moving it through the pipeline — those changes are captured automatically so there's always a trail behind the numbers.

<Note>
  You don't have to do anything to turn this on. History is recorded for you in the background as estimates are worked on.
</Note>

## What's tracked

For each tracked change, the record captures:

* **What changed** — the part of the estimate that was updated
* **From → to** — the previous value and the new one
* **When** — the date and time it changed
* **Who** — the teammate who made the change

This is what powers your team's sales reporting — for example, how long estimates sit before they sell, and how often they move between statuses.

## Where you'll see it day to day

Several of these changes surface right on the **Estimates** list, so you can read an estimate's story at a glance:

* **Status** — the current status badge reflects the latest status change. Use the status menu to move an estimate forward, and the change is recorded.
* **Sold Date** — once an estimate is marked Sold, its sold date appears on the row. If the deal actually closed on a different day, you can correct that date.
* **Updated At** — shows the last time the estimate was touched.
* **Client Viewed** and **Sent Date** — for proposals, these tell you when the customer opened it and when it went out.

<Tip>
  Use the date filters on the Estimates list — **Date Created**, **Sold Date**, and **Sent Date** — to find estimates by when key events happened, like everything sold in a given month.
</Tip>

## Detailed reporting

The full change-by-change record feeds your branch's sales metrics and performance reporting. If you need a deeper breakdown of how estimates moved over a period — close rates, time-to-sale, and similar — check your performance and reporting views, where this history is summarized for you.
